Megan Thee Stallion Defamation Judgment Reinstated Against Blogger Milagro Gramz
A Florida appeals court has reinstated a defamation judgment against blogger Milagro Gramz, reversing a lower court’s dismissal. The ruling centers on statements Gramz made accusing rapper Megan Thee Stallion of lying about being shot by Tory Lanez in 2020.
The court found that Gramz acted not as an independent journalist but as a commissioned agent for Lanez’s family. Key evidence showed Lanez’s father and sister provided Gramz with talking points and false information to disseminate. Because of this direct coordination, Gramz lost the legal protections typically afforded to media defendants reporting on public figures.
The reinstated judgment includes:
- $1 million in compensatory damages for Megan Thee Stallion
- $3 million in punitive damages against Gramz
- An acknowledgment that Gramz’s conduct was “intentional and malicious”
Megan Thee Stallion has consistently maintained that Lanez shot her in the feet after a party in July 2020. Lanez was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in 2022 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The appeals panel emphasized that Gramz’s coordinated campaign against Megan was not protected speech, as it stemmed from a paid arrangement to damage her credibility. The decision reaffirms that hired defamation, even under the guise of commentary, carries legal consequences.
