Disney Orders Pilot for Live-Action ‘Last Kids on Earth’

Disney has greenlit a pilot for a live-action adaptation of the popular Last Kids on Earth book series by Max Brallier. The project, which received a pilot order from Disney Branded Television, will be helmed by James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash, the writing duo behind Gotham Knights. They will serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners.

Director Kevin Tancharoen (Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Fame) is set to direct the pilot. The story follows a group of middle-school friends—Jack Sullivan, Quint, Dirk, and June—who survive a zombie apocalypse by holing up in a fortified treehouse. The books, which blend humor, horror, and friendship, have sold millions of copies and previously inspired a Netflix animated series.
